Songwriters in the Round is an MOMF event that provides songwriters a forum to share experiences and songs in the intimate space of the Arts Center of Saint Peter. Songwriters in the Round is co-produced, streamed and recorded by Triple Falls Productions of Mankato. This year’s host for Songwriters in the Round is songwriter/musician, Mal Murphy.
Mal Murphy is a Mankato-based singer/songwriter who released her first (and highly anticipated) EP in December of 2023 entitled, “Grow Up.” Her sound is decidedly Americana-–acoustic accompanying rich vocals with an occasional harmonica. The development of Mal’s style was inspired by greats such as Brandi Carlile, Gregory Alan Isakov, Jade Bird, and Ani DiFranco, and her mother, Tracy. You can find Mal playing regular solo gigs or partnering with other local favorites such as Nate Boots, The Mighty Zach Attack, Crista Bohlmann, and Kaleb Braun-Schulz.
Mal’s guests at this year’s event include Annie Mack, Vinnie Donatelle, and Kaleb Braun-Schulz.
Kaleb Braun-Schulz
Kaleb’s music deals with a wide array of subjects including self-reflection, spirituality, wandering, love, betrayal, escape, and his own struggles with mental health and coming of age as a person with Albinism.
Annie is a soulful singer and unflinching songwriter that built a reputation as a powerhouse blues singer with performances at: The John Coltraine Jazz Festival, Thunder Bay Music Festival, Twin Cities Jazz Festival and the Bayfront Blues Festival.
Vincenzio Donatelle is a touring Minnesota musician/songwriter, a member of the acclaimed Minnesota-based group, The Last Revel.
