The program will be presented at the Arts Center of Saint Peter on Thursday, May 7. MOMF’s Songwriters in the Round is open to the general public. There is no admission, though we do ask for donations. Seating is limited.


This year’s Songwriters in the Round guest is Jim Walsh, an award-winning author, journalist, writer, and songwriter from Minneapolis who for decades has immersed himself in the Minnesota music world through journalism, essays and performances.
His work has appeared in Rolling Stone, the Village Voice, Super Lawyers, the St. Paul Pioneer Press, City Pages, MinnPost, the Southwest Journal, and many other publications. He is the author of several books, including “Fear & Loving in South Minneapolis,” “Bar Yarns and Manic-Depressive Mixtapes,” “Gold Experience: Following Prince in the ‘90s” and “The Replacements: All Over But The Shouting: An Oral History.”
For 13 years he served as ringleader behind the singer/songwriter showcase The Mad Ripple Hootenanny, and his current band, Dog Day Cicadas, will release its third album this spring.

This year our host is Joe Tougas, a journalist and songwriter who performs with Joe Tougas & Associates and in the duo Joe & Ann (formerly The Frye.) With Ann Fee he wrote the musical stage play “The Best of Hank and Rita” and fronts the Frank Zappa tribute band Joe’s Garage. The album “Minnesota Moon” by Joe Tougas & Associates was released in 2025.
